10. Parish Registers

Parish registers for parishes within the present Metropolitan Borough of Dudley. The Archives Service is recognized as a place of deposit under the Parochial Register and Records Measure, 1978 for records of parishes in the deaneries of Dudley and Stourbridge (formerly Worcestershire and the Diocese of Worcester) and Himley (formerly Staffordshire and the Diocese of Lichfield and since 1993 in the Diocese of Worcester) and is acting as a Diocesan Record Office for the area.

Other information

Resources for family history are concentrated at the Archives and Local History Service. The principal district libraries have local history collections, especially Stourbridge (formerly Stourbridge M.B.D. Worcs.) and Brierley Hill (formerly Brierley Hill U.D.C., Staffs.) and Stourbridge Library has the census etc. for Stourbridge only.
